Durgapur is a growing hub of government and private industries. Shopping malls like Dreamplex, Suhatta Mall, and Junction Mall; multiplexes like Aarti Cinemas, Bioscope Cinema, and Inox cinemas are some of the favourite hotspots in the town. Amusement destinations like Mohan Kumaramangalam Park and Anand Sagar Water Park are also crowded with people, especially during weekends and holidays. To entertain its over half a million population, Durgapur offers every facility present in a metropolitan or megacity. The steel city, as the town is popularly known, has all the big and small restaurants offering a variety and best quality cuisines to the food lovers.

If we discuss area wise, a good number of eating places are located in Benachity which is the largest market in Durgapur and these are Dawat-E-Biryani (Continental, Chinese), Kohinoor and Solo Ana Bangali. The centrally located place in the town is named as City Centre and eateries located here are Panthasala, Ananya’s Restaurant (Chinese and Tandoori), dawat restaurant tooting Boiled Ices and Food Mart. Fast food outlets like KFC, Subway and Dominos are also located here at City Centre. The Junction Mall is the largest shopping centre which caters to the branded shopping needs of consumers. The top floor of the mall is where elite Chinese outlets like Mainland China and Lemon Grass are located. A food court called Buzz Court is also located on the same floor and serves delicious Continental, Chinese, and South Indian cuisines.

In comparison to consumer selling, Chandidas is equivalent to Benachity market and many good eating places are located here including Jhilam and Karan’s Delicacy (both serve Chinese and Continental); and Kohinoor and Soumen which basically serve Indian cuisines. One can say that restaurants in Durgapur are spread all across the town and it shows that people here are real food lovers. These places are Banskopa Inn (Continental, Indian) and Utsav Resort (Multi cuisine Restaurant (Indian, Chinese, Tandoor, and Continental & Bar) at Rajbandh; City Cabin (cafe & restaurant) at David More; Dinner’s Inn (Indian, Mughlai) and Kohinoor Snacks at ADDA-Garage Market.
